With recent legislation changes to the General binding rules for septic tanks, and the large cost of a new system, buying a house with an existing septic tank or sewage treatment plant is increasing risky. We carry out Home Buyer Surveys to manage this risk. If the system does not comply with the new legislation, we can offer quotes to repair or replace the system.

Due to the implementation of the General Binding Rules for septic tanks 2015, and new legislation, introduced in January 2020, we have seen a considerable increase in enquiries from home buyers.

This, rightly so, is being advised by solicitors and we advise any new home owner to have a survey done, to make sure that the sewage system meets with current regulations.

There are varying levels of cost for surveys, we have fixed prices, and clearly identify what is included in the survey. Without a survey, buying a new home, with a septic tank, can be risky. Knowing what system you have, knowing that the pie work is fit for purpose, and knowing that it is compliant, could save you money as the cost to repair or replace the system, or part of the system, can be very high.
